The most important invention in my lifetime is the use of binary language. Every computer program, smart phone, AI, everything we use today has some semblance of computer programming involved and all computer programming evolved from a binary language of 0000’s & 1111’s.
I remember in high school programing in zeros and ones to change colors, make squares that traveled around the screen on an Atari 800. Learning how to write simple programs, and the excitement of learning the first word processing program (learned to type on a non electric typewriter),
Now we have more memory and capability in our hands than used to take up rooms in universities to solve problems and store information, We are growing, and learning more. So I would say Binary language and computer programing is the greatest invention in my lifetime.
